In the article, "Should Everyone Get a Trophy?" by Lauren Tarshis, she talked about how kids get a trophy just for showing up to team practices. Our school system decided more than a decade ago to pass kids on to the next grade regardless of how successful they were on their report card. Do you think kids should fail?
Should Everyone Get A Trophy??
Do you ever think ‘Hey...why are kids not smart anymore?' I'll tell you why! Kids don't need to think at school! All they have to do is show up. So yes … Kids should be held back!
Say that your kid is doing horrible in math . Do you really want them to move on to next grade math?? Of course you don't! So say that your kid is at a store. They have $20 but they wont know what they can buy because they cant do math .
I bet you want you're kid to get a job right? Of course you do! I bet you want them to get a good job right ?? Yeah you do! Well kids fail Math,Language,Science, or PE they wont get a good job!
Say that your kid got held back. I bet you think it ruined your kids friendship. Well its not. Most kids get out into a split class so they might still be with there friends and if they are not they will make LOTS of friends.
In conclusion my thoughts are that kids should not be held back!
